Why do I need a Practical Completion Inspection?
You have just invested in what is likely the single largest investment of your life – your new house.
The PCI is a reconciliation of the major construction items with a focus on the finish of key items in the construction.
Practical Completion Inspection also known as (PCI) or handover inspection is an inspection of the building work done on your new home just prior to you taking possession of your property from the builder.
A PCI is an important and not to be ignored report carried out on a newly build home, when a build reached practical completion, the builder or building supervisor should let you know. The point of a PCI is not to pick on the builder, finding bad workmanship will be flagged as well as any other defect found including the cleanliness and state of the home, the main purpose is to determine if the home is free of major defects, is safe, and is fit for occupation.
Although we highly recommend you also perform a construction progress inspection at each stage of the build, if you just want a PCI at the conclusion of the build, this is still a very valuable tool to ensure the build quality is up to scratch. We are able to find defects, workmanship quality, allowable tolerances, and more.
